After a long and hard winter, are you ready for spring? While winter is a beloved season for some, most of us would definitely say that spring is a welcomed change from the dreariness of winter. I’ve created a list of some of the things that I love about spring.
My favourite thing about spring is the weather it introduces. Spring brings us bluer skies, warmer breezes and lighter days. Waking up, looking outside and seeing the birds chirping in the trees, seeing the breeze through the flowers and the sun shining down. Walking around and seeing all the flowers growing, blossom on the trees, the beautiful colours emerging everywhere you look.
The increased daylight that spring gives you is a lovely feeling. More daylight means more time to enjoy the outdoors, stay out later, do more things. It also means that you can wake up to a brightly lit morning sky as opposed to the pitch black that should be restricted only to nighttime. I’m not someone who likes the dark wintery days all that much. I find trying to get anything done when it’s dark and ice cold so much harder. Having a few more hours of daylight makes me feel so much more productive not only during my work day but it also makes me want to get up and do more.
Sense of promise
I don’t know why, but spring carries a sense of promise, that things will improve and problems will finally be resolved as “newness” is on its way. This newness can look like fresh flowers just blooming, making plans for a new start in life or career change, or even spring cleaning your home. The sweetest promise offered by spring is the assurance that summer is just around the corner.
Feeling more positive
There are people in the world who truely thrive in the winter months and cherish the cooler seasons. I am not one of these people. The darker days and colder months make me feel unhappy and less motivated. I think a lot of people feel the same and it is not an uncommon thing that people tend to feel a little more down in the winter months. So when the warmer months come back around, I feel a huge sense of relief, I wake up and see the blue sky, I smell the fresh flowers in my garden, I just feel so much more positive.
Turn into explorers
When it’s dark and incredibly cold it certainly gets rid of my urge to get out more, even when you’re dress appropriately, being slapped in the face by ice cold winds is not enjoyable by any means. The warmer and brighter days means you can get out and explore more either on your own or with your loved ones. You don’t have to go on an areoplane to explore somewhere, I guarentee there are loads of places within your hometown that you didn’t even know existed. Take a stroll and explore.
I am unsure as to why but whenever spring comes around, I always feel the need to spring clean, and I’m not the only one, I’d like to say a good 80% of us all start cleaning and tidying when spring appears. I start sorting out drawers, wiping sides, getting rid of clothes I don’t wear, buying more clothes to fill the empty spaces. I just feel like I’ve got the time to do it. It’s lighter when I come home from work so “I can quickly do this” or “I can go do that”.
What’s one thing that makes you excited for spring? Thank you for reading, until next time.
