This is something I have wanted to do for ages and I am finally doing it. Myself and a group from work are going to be joining the Race For Life on the 23rd June. We’ve signed up for the 5K run that will be happening in Abington Park, Northampton.
Unfortunately, almost everyone has been affected by cancer in one way or another, but the work that Cancer Research are doing will hopefully bring us closer to finding a cure. My personal experience has been with family members, sadly my grandad lost his life to cancer and my mum is a cancer survivor. She inspires me everyday to be better, you need to live your life to the fullest, you never know what’s around the corner, when your last day might be.
Since joining the race for life I’ve signed up to do the 25k Waendel walk on the 11th May in Wellingborough (blog post here) and a 3k colour run on the 1st June in Milton Keynes (blog post here).
I managed to complete the 5K race for life in about 50 minutes with two other friends. We are already talking about signing up for next year!
I hope that my taking part in Race for Life will raise awareness, so we become more educated in the initial symptoms of cancer, to help catch it early, but also inform us more in preventative measures we should be taking.
I am sharing my giving page with you in the hopes you can help this great charity and help us all near cancer sooner.
Supporting the fighter, admiring the survivor, honouring the taken and never giving up hope. Thank you for reading, until next time.
