As it’s now Autumn/Winter and I live in the UK, we all know that the rainy season is upon us (well it has been for a very long time anyway, it never seems to go). I always find it hard to figure out what to do when it’s raining as it can put a downer on your day. A lot of plans will always get cancelled the minute you wake up and see raindrops on your window. You can see it as a bad thing but you can always see it as an opportunity to do something else with your day, be spontaneous.
I have written down some rainy day ideas for you guys to have a try (and mostly myself) for when the weather takes a turn for the worst. It’s always handy to have a couple ideas in the bank for what to do.
Number one will always be a duvet day. When you wake up and it’s raining and miserable outside, what better way than to stay in your pyjamas all day, stick some movies on with a cup of tea and don’t leave your bed. This tends to be what I do every rainy day but there isn’t anything better. Believe me.
Gaming session. Now I know Liam would be up for this whether it’s pouring down with rain or whether it was the hottest day of the year. Liam loves gaming and is always trying to get me more involved. I find it hard for me to enjoy playing games as there aren’t many games I actually enjoy playing, most of the games I like are Super Mario Bros or Mario Kart, your typical old school games that you used to play as a child. I’d happily spend the whole day playing retro games.
Reading. I have been getting into my reading. I love a good book. I find I could be reading for hours and it would only feel like minutes. I could easily spend a rainy day with a good book listening to the rain pitter-pattering on the window with a cup of hot chocolate and marshmallows.
Bake something. I don’t think I’d ever say no to baking. I love baking, whether that be using a quick packet mixture which I bought from Tesco or whether trying something from scratch. Liam and I have the Pinch of Nom book which a lot of people have raved over for quite some time now and they do have some amazing recipe ideas.
Writing and/or reading blog posts. One thing I love to do in my spare time is to try and plan my blog posts. If I woke up and it was raining outside, I’d love to be able to crack on and get some writing done, when it’s miserable outside I tend to get a lot of work done as I feel like I don’t have that many distractions like “oh, the weather is lovely, maybe I should be outside more and go for a walk”. When it’s miserable, I don’t need the excuse of staying indoors. If I’m not writing blog posts then I’m reading all of yours. I love looking for inspiration from you guys and the ideas you come up with.
Get organised. Do you ever get one of those days where you wake up, take a look around your room and suddenly realise how messy it is? That’s me. It always gets to a point where I think “the mess has gone too far” and I need to start organising my life a little bit better. A rainy day is the perfect day to get organise. Whether that be putting on a load of washing, spring cleaning your house/room. I like to try and organise my clothes whenever I get the chance as I am always eager to buy new clothes to fill up my wardrobe but hate having to throw things away and eventually I end up with a pile on the floor of clothes that just won’t fit in my wardrobe anymore.
Let me know what you get up to when the weather has turned at it may have cancelled your plans. I’d love to add a few more to my list of exciting things to do. Thank you so much for reading, until next time.
